Programs Summary
All programs of The Child Unique follow a Montessori philosophy. We use Montessori materials and Montessori trained teachers, who guide the children in the areas of language arts, mathematics, sensorial development, practical living skills and cultural subjects which include the sciences and social studies. The classrooms are multi-aged, but divided into basic classrooms outlined below.
Toddlers
Toddlers are gently guided in all academic areas of Montessori education, along with an emphasis on grace and courtesy and positive peer interaction. Music, art and cooking are special focuses.
Preschool (Primary)
The preschool classes at both locations incorporate the Montessori areas of learning, with an emphasis in cultural subjects and community connection. With a separate library and Cultural Room in which students can visit during certain hours, there are special projects and monthly in-services connected to monthly themes.
Pre-Kindergarten/Elementary
Our Primary classes incorporate a Kindergarten/Elementary curriculum. A Montessori classroom is one in which the best education occurs within a multi-age structure, allowing children to learn, not according to chronological age, but according to academic and developmental ability, strength and interest. Our programs include in-services in the arts and sciences, walking adventures and outdoor activities which connect with the academic or social lesson of the month.
Parent Participation In Our School
A strong community is at the heart of our school’s success. We believe that children thrive when families are actively involved in their education. Our 11 parent committees offer diverse opportunities for participation, allowing families to contribute in ways that suit their skills and schedules—whether by volunteering at school, helping with events, or supporting projects from home.
This collaborative approach helps build a nurturing environment where children feel connected and supported. By joining our school, you’re not just enrolling your child in an educational program—you’re becoming part of a community that values partnership, engagement, and the shared goal of helping every child grow and succeed.
We invite families who see the value of active involvement and want to be part of this enriching experience.
Kofi Annan
“There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace."
